Civica to deliver financial systems for LB Greenwich

London borough selects hosted financial system for control and reporting from software experts

LONDON, UK, 11th January 2010:- The London Borough of Greenwich is transforming its financial operations with a new, managed platform from Civica, a market leader in software-based solutions that help organisations to improve service delivery and efficiency.

This new enterprise-level financial platform will ensure faster, integrated reporting, based on easy-to-use, web-based general ledger, debtors and creditors software modules. It will be used by approximately 800 personnel across the authority including finance teams and senior departmental personnel, enabling them to view financial information in real time and make more informed decisions.

The system, phase one of which went live this month, is based on Civica’s well-known Authority Financials software, electronic document management (EDM) for automated invoice processing, and eBudgeting. The implementation followed an initial joint planning and analysis phase that was conducted by business process re-engineering consultants from Civica and staff from Greenwich. This identified the new business processes and the changes to staff roles that would be required in order to deliver the desired outcomes.

The hosted web-based financial software system from Civica will provide Greenwich personnel with flexible working facilities, 24/7 access, full technical support and a comprehensive disaster recovery solution with hourly replication of the database.

David Roots, managing director, local government - Civica,
"Authority Financials, designed specifically for local government and hosted in our secure data centre, provides customers with a robust financial management system. Built on firm foundations of re-engineered processes, staff roles and information flows, Greenwich will not only achieve operational efficiencies and improve decision-making but also avoid the time, cost, and complexity of tailoring an ERP platform to its daily needs. This marks an important milestone in Greenwich’s modernisation of management processes to meet the demands of efficiency targets, residents’ service expectations and faster decision-making.”
