Michael qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG and went on to become finance director of two other London listed companies before joining the Sanderson Group as finance director in 1998. Along with Simon Downing, Michael formed part of themanagement buyout team which took the Sanderson Group private in January 2000 and was Sanderson Group finance director until December 2003.
